Dr. Matthew Scott from RWI is speaking at a public online lecture on “Border Externalisation, Climate Change and Refugees” arranged by CONREP. With new manifestations of climate emergencies every day and States resorting to extraterritorial border controls, Matthew Scott will reflect on current and potential responses to disaster and climate change related displacement together with Carl Söderbergh and Prof. Gregor Noll.
“Will the recognition of climate-related motives for flight be met by another round of externalization policies? Or will the intensifying debate on the climate emergency challenge their legitimacy?”
