Johan Mellström is a Senior Programme Officer at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI), where he manages the International Humanitarian Law Compliance Monitoring Database (ICMD) project.
Prior to joining RWI in 2026, he gained more than ten years of experience managing complex humanitarian and development programmes in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. His background spans international organizations and public institutions, combining programme management with policy, research, and contextual analysis in conflict- and post-conflict settings.
He holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Uppsala University.
