RWI has organised an annual regional initiative since 2014 to support human rights research around Asia. The initiative has seen the joint effort between different RWI programmes in Asia, and this year it is open to academic partners from four different programmes: Cambodia; China; Myanmar, and Regional Asia, where the regional programme covers all countries/sub-regions mentioned above.
Research topics should relate to human rights and environment, climate change and SDGs, further described in the call for applications, and topics with a regional scope, including regional or inter-state cooperation or challenges within Asia, will be prioritised.
Successful applicants will be expected to carry out original research and produce a paper in English that can be presented at national, regional and/or international conferences. To facilitate the research process and the writing of final research papers, successful applicants will be invited to join a series of events throughout the year. Details about admissibility criteria and process are available in the call for application from the programme below.
Targeted scope: South and Southeast Asia, China, the Pacific and Oceania, with the exception of countries not eligible for development cooperation.
Applicants from Cambodia should refer to the specific call for applications for Cambodia.
