Human Rights Defender of Armenia to Speak in Lund

Dr. Arman Tatoyan, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, will make a special visit to Lund University to speak with Human Rights Organizations and students on April 25.

During the lecture, he will deliver a speech titled “The role of the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) in protecting and promoting Human Rights: The Armenian experience.”

The lecture will address the issue of the establishment and development of Armenia’s National Human Rights Institution, the adoption of Armenia’s new constitutional law on the Human Rights Defender in Armenia and its novelties, overview of practices for the protection and promotion of human rights at national and international levels.

More about Dr. Tatoyan

Dr. Tatoyan is currently working as Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (ombudsman) (since 2016) akin to the Swedish Parliamentary Ombudsman, as Ad Hoc judge at the European Court of Human Rights, and as International Expert of the Council of Europe. At the same time, he works as a Law Professor at the Yerevan State University and the American University of Armenia.
