Civil Society’s Monitoring of Human Rights Reforms in Armenia

This research is about civil society’s contributions towards the larger goal of change in social norms and the development of human rights-based culture in Armenia. The main intention of this research is to contribute to an improved understanding on the importance of developing a civil society and human rights culture in Armenia. This research is based on the assessment of progress of select type of actions, identified by the RA Government, with the goal to contribute to the change of norms, towards upholding civil rights in Armenia.

The purpose of this research is to shed light on Armenian civil society’s contributions to human rights agenda in the country: in terms of provision of analytical and methodological support, watchdogging government’s implementation, coordination and communication mechanisms among civil society and government regarding human rights reform monitoring process. The value-added contribution of this report is in its offering a qualitative analysis of select human rights implementation in Armenia. The research is based on analysis from the qualitative perspective, to provide an understanding of problems related to ensuring the implementation of civil rights.
