The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) has entered into an agreement with Alfa Laval, a global leader in sustainable industrial solutions. The collaboration focuses on advancing Alfa Laval’s internal frameworks and practices related to Business & Human Rights, in alignment with international standards and the company’s broader sustainability strategy.
The engagement will be led by Dr. Radu Mares, Senior Researcher at RWI who has worked with corporate responsibilities and human rights due diligence for over twenty years.
“Alfa Laval’s ambition to emerge as a leader in the green and just transition makes this a special collaboration to advance responsible business conduct and innovate in sustainability,” said Dr. Radu Mares. “We look forward to contributing expertise that supports their ongoing efforts to embed human rights considerations across operations and value chains.”
“Alfa Laval is proud to partner with the Raul Wallenberg Institute, as impactful partnerships are vital to drive the sustainable transition”, said Anna Celsing, Chief Sustainability Officer at Alfa Laval.

RWI engages in research, capacity building, and advisory work with a wide range of partners to strengthen the implementation of human rights and humanitarian law globally. Collaborations with the private sector such as this are crucial to RWI’s effort to bridge knowledge with practice, supporting key actors, institutions, and decision makers in navigating complex sustainability challenges.
The agreement is limited in scope and duration, focusing on expert input over a two-year period. RWI maintains its commitment to transparency, integrity, and academic independence in all its partnerships with external actors, including those in the private sector.
