By: Windi Arini, Regional Director, Asia Pacific (a.i.)
The Raoul Wallenberg Institute officially concluded the Regional Asia Pacific Programme Phase 2 (RAPP2) in Jakarta on 30 June 2026. The event brought together partners from across the region to reflect on two years of deep collaboration toward just, inclusive, and sustainable development.
Supported by Sida, RAPP2 worked closely with universities, judicial actors, National Human Rights Institutions, civil society, and other stakeholders. Together, we strengthened the vital connections between human rights, gender equality, climate action, and environmental governance.
A key milestone of RAPP2 has been our continued engagement with regional human rights mechanisms. Through our consultative relationship with the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), the programme has directly contributed to the development and operationalization of key frameworks, including the ASEAN Declaration on the Right to a Safe, Clean, Healthy, and Sustainable Environment. By linking regional diplomacy with peer-to-peer learning, we help ensure international standards translate into local justice.
RWI is incredibly proud of our dedicated team in Jakarta, Bangkok, and Phnom Penh whose hard work and commitment made these milestones possible.
Our Impact at a Glance:
- 553 participants engaged across 16 Asian countries.
- Developed practical tools and shared learning resources.
- Supported lasting institutional change that will continue well beyond the programme itself.
As we look ahead to RAPP3, we remain committed to advancing rights-based environmental governance through strong partnerships, shared learning, and collective action.
Thank you to all our partners and participants for being part of this journey!
