The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) have been cooperating during 2016 on a project that defines human rights cities and/or regions in a Swedish context. On Friday 10 March SALAR officially adopted the policy platform.
For this project, international researchers, practitioners from civil society organizations, local Swedish politicians and civil servants were invited to a summit to develop thinking on what characterizes human rights cities, how a human rights city can be defined and how this could be applied to a Swedish context. The papers submitted in preparation for the summit form the content of a new publication, published jointly by RWI and Salar.
