The agreement is for five years, entering into force on 1 January 2013, and provides the general conditions for the cooperation between Sida and the Institute in relation to Sida-supported international programmes of the Institute.
The signing of the new agreement reinforces the good cooperation between Sida and the Institute and indicates both parties’ commitment to maintain this cooperation on a long-term basis. Through the agreement, the parties agree to cooperate to promote universal respect for human rights, humanitarian law and the rule of law.
Sida is the main financier of the Institute’s programmes and provides financial support, based on Swedish strategies for development cooperation, to the Institute’s cooperation programmes in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa (see further where we work).
