Research areas currently covered at Raoul Wallenberg Institute concern challenges human rights implementation and adapting human rights law to the realities of the 21century. In recent years there has been an increased focus on human rights in Sweden, including the rights of Roma and other national minorities in Sweden and of asylum-seeker applicants, and a rights-based approach to public administration. Other research areas deal with challenges posed to human rights by security and terrorist protection, by economic activities; research on corporate responsibilities, and the relation between intellectual property rights and human rights. Respect for human rights in conflict zones and the issue of responsibility to protect, also called R2P, are other areas of interest at the Institute which harks back to the emphasis on humanitarian law that the Institute has.
