The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) welcomed the Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, H.E. Mrs. Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, for a bilateral meeting at RWI’s headquarters in Lund on 15 September 2025.

During the meeting, RWI presented its broader research portfolio across several thematic areas, with particular attention to its emerging plans to strengthen efforts in the field of Business and Human Rights (BHR). The Ambassador welcomed cooperation in this area, noting that BHR is also a priority for the Thai Government. The discussion touched on the importance of promoting responsible business practices through human rights due diligence, including developments such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), without entering into specific commitments.
RWI also noted the establishment of its new Regional Asia and the Pacific Office in Bangkok, Thailand, and expressed its commitment to exploring new opportunities for collaboration with Thai partners. The Ambassador responded positively, expressing appreciation for the new RWI presence as a local foundation and for its board members.
Both parties agreed on the importance of advancing human rights globally and expressed their intention to explore future opportunities for collaboration.
