This year, the world is in a different state which is why Almedalen in Sweden was cancelled. Almedalen, Sweden, was the first ever ‘People’s meeting ‘ in Europe. The Almedal week is Sweden’s most important political forum. Today, such meetings are held across Europe with 100.000’s of Europeans meeting to discuss political issues.
The cancellation of Almedalen led to #iställetföralmedalen which was a series of webinars on different topics in our society. Our Director, Morten Kjaerum and Josette Bushell-Mingo, discussed Europe and racism, during the Democracy day at the Alternative Almedal week.
We have to become and be anti-racists rather than non-racists, i.e actively engage in working against
discrimination.
