This report is part of a series of thematic studies on current human rights issues of concern to people in Afghanistan, carried out by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan’s (UNAMA) Human Rights Service in the framework of Security Council Resolution 2626 (2022). Resolution 2626 tasks UNAMA with engaging with “all stakeholders at the national and subnational levels and civil society and international non-governmental organizations in the protection and promotion of the human rights of all Afghans”, and to “monitor, report and advocate with regard to the situation for civilians (and) the prevention and elimination of violence”.
