The Annual Ten December Academy in Cambodia was organised by the Institute for the second time 8-12 December 2014 in Kep, Cambodia. The purpose of the Academy is to celebrate the International Human Rights Day and to increase the knowledge and skills among university professors/lecturers to teach human rights topics at their home universities. The focus of the Academy shifts from year to year. The focus of the first Academy (2013) was “Human Rights of Women”. The Academy this year focused on “Business and Human Rights”. In total 14 participants affiliated with numerous Cambodian Universities attended the Academy which included topics such as “The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights”, “State obligations and access to remedies” and “Responsible supply chain management”. In addition, sessions focusing on “Teaching Methodologies” and “Assessments” were held and at the end of the Academy each participant developed their own class/seminar/course on Business and Human Rights. Dr. Radu Mares, Prof. Rhona Smith and Prof. Phallack Kong were resource persons at this successful event.
