Thematic Workshop for African NHRIs in Kampala

The Institute in partnership with the Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) held a workshop on monitoring the rights of persons with disabilities in Kampala 25-27 August. The workshop participants were from NHRIs in Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Uganda. The workshop included presentations and plenary sessions on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and human rights monitoring as well as working groups on monitoring the implementation of specific CRPD articles. On the last day, the participants conducted field visits to a school, health center, hospital and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development in Kampala.
