Training for prison officers

The Institute in partnership with the Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) held a training for 20 selected prison officers on the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners from 5-9 May in Nairobi. The training was co-facilitated by RWI and KPS experts on human rights in correctional services, and the participants nominated by alumni of the RWI-KPS human rights and leadership training for prison directors earlier this year.  All participants will also attend training of trainers and human rights audit training during the course of 2014, qualifying them as fully certified KPS Human Rights Officers.
