Swedish Institute Funding for a Collaborative Environmental Project in Armenia and Georgia

In 2024 RWI was awarded a grant from the Swedish Institute’s Baltic Sea Neighborhood Programme for a collaboration with our Armenian and Georgian partners, Eco Right and Green Alternative NGOs.

The project, titled "Effective Public Participation in Environmental Decision-Making in the EU and Eastern Partnership," focuses on creating a participatory decision-making model for mining projects with environmental impacts. This model will align with human rights standards, ensuring that green energy transitions are both sustainable and equitable.

Through legal and environmental analysis, public dialogue, and networking between academia and civil society organisations in Armenia, Georgia and Sweden, the project aims to help influence policy and legal reforms in the context of the mining sector, promoting social and judicial awareness in sustainable environmental practices and supporting European integration efforts in the region.

The project started in September 2024 and will be finalised in September 2025.
