Call for Applications: Blended Learning Course on Environmental Justice and Human Rights in Southeast Asia

Prosecutors, lawyers and National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) officers play a pivotal role in protecting communities from worsening environmental and climate-related harms across Southeast Asia. Yet many still face capacity gaps, particularly in applying human-rights-based, gender-responsive and cross-border approaches.

The Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI), together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), invites qualified professionals to join an intensive Blended Learning Course (BLC) that will help bridge those gaps and foster a regional network of “champions” for environmental justice.

 What you will gain?

  • Up-to-date knowledge of international environmental law, climate justice and the emerging ASEAN Declaration on the Right to a Safe, Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment.
  • Practical tools for rights-based litigation, prosecution and NHRI investigations: including strategic case clinics, scenario-building and peer exchange.
  • Regional connections with legal practitioners facing similar challenges, laying the groundwork for collaborative, multi-stakeholder action.
