I am Sam At Rachana, an Indigenous (Bunong) student from Mondulkiri Province. I graduated from the Khmer Law Program at Royal University of Law and Economic in August 2022, and English Law Program (ELBBL) in September 2023. I was supported by RWI to study English Law Program (ELBBL).
I have completed a 3-months internship and training program at Sala Traju Association. During my internship, I fulfilled various responsibilities, such as contributing to the weekly legal bulletin project, organizing public lectures on legal terminologies, concept and overseeing general administration for Sala Traju Association. Additionally, I also volunteered at the Traju Association after I finished my training and internship, my responsibility was to do legal updates of Ministry of interior and ministry of Environment, and translate those legal updates from Khmer to English.
In July 2023, I joined the world conference at United Nation on Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples-EMRIP, and attended a training course in Switzerland with Documentation, Research, and Information Centre of the Indigenous Peoples-DOCIP on the international human rights system with a focus on United Nations and the European Union mechanisms, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, and environmental and human rights.
Additionally, in October 2023, I was assigned to represent Cambodia Indigenous Women Association-CIWA to join the conference on empowering and strengthening indigenous women from the Mekong region in water governance in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I have also joined another training with Legal Advocacy Institute-MAIL in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
I am currently working as an intern at Raoul Wallenberg Institute.
