The Paris Agreement declares that:
"Parties should, when taking action to address climate change, respect, promote and consider their respective obligations on human rights, the right to health, the rights of indigenous peoples, local communities, migrants, children, persons with disabilities and people in vulnerable situations and the right to development, as well as gender equality, empowerment of women and intergenerational equity."
Rights-Based Climate Adaptation in Armenia and Georgia is designed to support participants in operationalizing this ambition. Integrating human rights and gender equality into action to address climate change starts with a foundational understanding across the public sector of how these fields of knowledge and practice intersect. The certificate course brings together public sector professionals working across multiple sectors and in neighbouring countries to exchange knowledge. Consisting of three workshops, self-directed study, and four online learning exchanges, the course uses the Framework for Integrating Rights and Equality (FIRE) to structure the exchange of knowledge and insights between course participants.
