By: Göran Melander, Peter van Krieken

ISSN: 0283-085X

This study pays attention to the freedom of religion concept, and in particular the freedom to change religion. It is submitted that the latter freedom is fully embedded in the international bill of human rights and subsequent instruments and communications, and that hence due attention should be paid to asylum seekers who base their claim on fear of being persecuted for having changed their religion, for being an apostate.
