The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Raciat Discrimination (ICERD) lays down its own set of rules applicable tc reservations. Thus, Article 20 contains rules on the making of reservations. their withdrawal and the duties of the Secretary General for the United Nations, acting as the depository of the Convention, as well as rules on the permissibility of reservations. These rules differ in some respects from the regime subsequently laid down in the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties.
