We are thrilled to share the highlights of our recent meeting with Mr. Philippe Strub, the Deputy Head of Mission from the Embassy of Switzerland in Indonesia. Switzerland has a significant presence in Indonesia, supporting educational institutions and engaging in an annual human rights dialogue with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Their focus on business and human rights (BHR) and supply chain responsibilities for multinational companies aligns perfectly with RWI’s mission.
This meeting opened doors for exciting collaborations. RWI’s expertise in developing BHR risk assessment tools for the Indonesian government positions us as a key partner for Swiss businesses. Together, we can address misconceptions about human rights within the business sector and promote responsible practices.
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) also plays a crucial role in disaster risk reduction (DRR) in Indonesia, emphasizing gender equality in DRR policies. RWI’s framework for integrating rights and equality can significantly support this endeavour, creating a more resilient and inclusive approach to disaster management.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the joint session on BHR planned for 2025, aimed at educating Swiss businesses operating in Indonesia about their human rights responsibilities. This initiative will help bridge gaps in understanding and promote sustainable business practices.
Our potential collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland not only aligns with RWI’s mission but also enhances our footprints in Indonesia, particularly in business human rights and disaster risk reduction.
