RWI’s Executive Director Peter Lundberg has for the past few days visited our Regional Asia-Pacific Office in Jakarta. During his visit, he met with Ms. Gita Sabharwal, the UN Resident Coordinator in Indonesia.
We are pleased to share the outcomes of our recent meeting with Ms. Sabharwal! The UN is currently developing its Common Country Analysis (CCA), which will provide a comprehensive picture of Indonesia’s development needs and how the UN can best position itself to add value. Climate change, biodiversity, and just transition have been identified as key priorities, among other critical issues.
During the meeting, RWI shared its observations on the human rights situation in Indonesia, highlighting areas that require attention and support from development partners. As an academic human rights institution, RWI is uniquely positioned to support the Resident Coordinator’s office on human rights issues. Our expertise can help ensure that human rights considerations are effectively integrated into the UN’s development strategies.
We look forward to collaborating with the UN Resident Coordinator to address these pressing issues and enhance the impact of human rights initiatives in Indonesia.
