Marika Fahlén

Marika Fahlén is presently Ambassador and Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm. She has previously served as Ambassador for Humanitarian Affairs and during that time as Vice-Chair of the 27th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva. She is a member of the ICRC Editorial Board of the International Review of the Red Cross. In 2006-2009 she served as Chair of the Advisory Group of the UN Secretary General to CERF – the UN Central Emergency Response Fund. She has ten years professional experience from UNHCR, UNDP and UNAIDS and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Crisis Group. Her profile is on humanitarian and human rights law in violent conflict and peacebuilding, including as stepping stones to prevent threats of conflict from escalating into deadly violence. Her focus has been on Africa. She has experience from board-membership in NGOs. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute since 2011.
