Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights visits Thailand

The Institute’s Jakarta office is organizing a study visit to Thailand from 9-13 September in partnership with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Indonesia. The main objective of the visit is to study Thai experiences in implementing aspects of restorative justice for juvenile delinquents. Indonesia promulgated a new law on juvenile justice in 2012 which will enter into force in 2014. Apart from visit relevant governmental agencies, the visit includes field trips to juvenile rehabilitation and education centres.

The Indonesian delegation is headed by the Director General for Human Rights in Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Harikristuti Harikrisnowo and Head of the Jakarta Office, Christian Ranheim. It consists of 23 delegates from all agencies responsible for implementing the new law as well as representatives from civil society organizations.
